Lifestyle Medicine is an emerging, evidence-based field of medicine that emphasizes the importance of healthy behaviours and habits that have been shown to lead to the prevention, management or even reversal of chronic diseases.

Lifestyle medicine focuses on six key pillars - nutrition, physical activity, stress management, sleep, substance use management, and connection to others.

 

By addressing these pillars, individuals can improve their overall health and wellbeing, reduce medication burden and reduce the risk of many chronic diseases, including: heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, dementia, type 2 diabetes, cancer, mental ill-health and many more.

At Sustainable Practice we combine lifestyle medicine with health coaching, which helps people make the changes they desire a reality. Health coaching is a collaborative and empowering process that helps individuals identify and achieve their health goals by providing guidance, support, and accountability.
